New York State Snowmobile Association Annual Forum
Nearly 800 delegates, presenters, vendors, staff and guests attended annual event

April 23, 2009, Syracuse, NY - NYSSA’s educational Forum and Annual Meeting was held April 17-19 at the Holiday Inn and Conference Center in Liverpool, New York.  Snowmobile clubs from across New York State gathered for meetings and educational seminars. Over 25 seminar sessions occurred during the forum covering the topic areas of safety & trails, Club Operations, and Public Affairs.

Carmella R. Mantello, Director, New York State Canal Corporation, addressed the attendees at the Awards Luncheon on Saturday.   NYSSA Awards were presented at the Saturday’s Award Luncheon for the following categories:
Snowmobile Family of the Year    Bonanno Family, Pulaski-Boylston Snowmobile Club   
Snowmobiler of the Year            Ken Radley, Sleds of Stafford               
Club of the Year                        Brantingham Snowmobile Club           
Groomer of the Year                  Don Busch, Brantingham Snowmobile Club
Groomer of the Year                  Tim Rosenberg, Lafayette Trail Riders   
Snowmobile Dealer of the Year    Progressive Motor Sports, Hudson Falls, NY   


The President's Award was shared by Ernie Roosevelt , Onondaga County District Director, and Richard Rozzi, Super Raffle Chair, for their outstanding efforts on behalf of the Onondaga County Snowmobile Association Super Raffle.

Assemblywoman RoAnn M. Destito, 116th Assembly District, and snowmobile club member, greeted snowmobilers at an afternoon reception where she was presented with NYSSA’s Legislator of the Year Award for her work in support of snowmobiling across New York.  Senator David J. Valesky, 49th Senate District, addressed all the attendees during Saturday evening’s Annual Banquet as he also accepted the NYSSA Legislator of the Year Award.

NY Snowmobilers again stepped up in supporting NYSSA’s Charities of Choice:  Easter Seals, the Pink Ribbon Riders, and the USO (Support our Troops).   Donations through various events across the weekend totaled over $1800.

Fund raising included the 2009 Super Raffle sponsored by the Onondaga County Snowmobile Association, Inc., in support of New York State Snowmobile Trails was drawn Saturday.  For the first time in many years, the first prize winner was present! Betty Haig promptly claimed the Ski-Doo 500SS as her prize.  The complete winners list is posted prominently at www.nysnowmobiler.com. 

Founded in 1975, NYSSA is the voice of more than 100,000 snowmobilers in New York State, and provides support for the 230 local clubs that maintain local snowmobile trails.
